Aang I love you so!

aAbout two days ago I found out about this warehouse from The Last Airbender by director M. Night Shyamalan full of the movies props that was just sold. And a women I work with boyfriend's friend has just bought it and and opened up a pre-sale for just the employees. Ummm I was not only so excited I nearly fell off my chair when I heard the news. I'm a huge fan of Avatar, the cartoon and the movie was pretty cool. It was a chance of a lifetime and I saw some amazing things. Here are some pics of the rad cool space!

crazy lamps!

Jars, pots, shells, scrolls, wooden boxes, mystery room

Bones!! So cool!

I want them all!

Appa! He is a flying Bison

Want!

The fire nation boats

This is all the stuff I bought. (not the chair...I got that for $24 at an urban sample sale) I'm so happy to have these special pieces! Yep that's a bow, quiver and arrow!

cool pages

A replica of an ancient calculator

a replica of an ancient Astrological brass Islamic Globe Armilliary Spere
used to navigate the sky's, time and date

Old maps and scrolls with paintings

It was so cool. I still can't get over the stuff in there!

To get away and not spend a dime I go to Valley Green. With the cool breeze and rays of sunshine beaming through the beautiful trees it is the perfect place to relax and just be. This morning I went biking down the main trail along the Wissahickon River. As I ride through I always forget I'm in a city.
Ps... Its a great place to find secret swimming pools and fun to cliff jump in to the river!

wishing and hoping

I wish to be at Yellowstone National Park, by far one of my favorite places. I took these photos about two years ago on a cross country trip with my boyfriend.  I can still feel the cool breeze from this waterfall. Standing in front of it was so relaxing and mind clearing. Right now I would take a nap on one of those rocks and just listen to the falls.

Rest in Peace Pepper

I lost my best friend today. He is the one person in my life that has always made me smile and wash my worries away. He saved my life many times. He will be forever in my thoughts and heart. Whenever I feel sad I will just think about the happy pup rollin in the grass catching all the sunlight or the way he would look up me and seemed to smile. I miss him so much. I love you so much Pepper. May you rest in peace.

Daydreaming

Ever feel like your still dreaming.
Today is that kinda day.
I feel like I'm floating in pastels and fine pencil lines.

DIY A little pick me up

So to kick start my new space I made a little box of pick-me ups. I saw a post on theClotheshorse and I knew I had to make one of my own. On those rough days it’s nice to have some words of encouragement.

Materials
writing utensil
printouts/objects (anything that inspires you it can even be from old magazines or a piece of fabric that you love..I printed out some of my favorite flickr photographers and artists)
Paper for writing your message
Scissors
Glue (I used Sobo glue)
Most important and the most fun- A box! I found mine in my Christmas storage with ordainments in it. You can find some at retails stores like Michaels, or you could use a old tin lid, or even a tea box. The possibilities are endless. For my next one I’m thinking about using a old book and cutting out a circle out of the front.

1. Cut out your inspirations to fit the inside of the box.

2. Place and plan how you want them to go
3. Glue and secure

4. Write out a message that means something to you or use a quote from someone you admire on a piece of paper. Write it our small enough to fit inside the box

5. Cut it out, bend and glue to the edge of the box. I used my marker to secure it

6. Let dry and place or give as a gift and then do a little dance cause you just make an awesome box of happiness.

I have mine hanging in my new studio space.
It really makes me feel 10 times better on those gloomy days!
Plus the dino is pretty cute!

A new spark

This weekend I just chilled which was so relaxing and just fantastic. Lately I feel like I'm running around like a chicken and have not had the time to work on things for myself. Really this blog is my outlet at the moment. Its the only way I have been able to express myself and feel creative. But I'm pushing everyday to change that and take my creativeness and actually make things I love. I'm very proud of myself because this weekend I redid my studio and I'm lovin it! Re-doing or making your own space is a great way to get out of a block and revitalize your spark. With all the chaos in my life right now this gives me such glee.

This is a print I made in for my senior show in 2009. It is about finding treasure in the unknown.

the design center ROCKS!

While studying at Philadelphia University, I had the pleasure of working for the Paley Design Center, by far one of the greatest experiences of my life. It is a fabulous house that holds over 200,000+ textile and fashion objects and at one time exhibitions . Oh yeah...pure eye candy. It is such a treasure chest of the most amazing vintage garments, prints, and the largest fashion library that I have ever seen.  The best thing is that its in a Hollywood style house so as you walk down the long halls and high ceilings you feel like a movie star! oh it has such a special place in my heart. Unfortunately the university does not value its resources as it should and funding is very limited. If you have a chance ...GO! It should not be missed. Sarah is keeping the spirit alive with her blog the design center which daily showcases the amazing objects of the collection. I went to visit and check out some prints for inspiration.  It was such fun and I found some great prints which actually became prints for some garments at Free People! Whooo hoo!

This Printed Lacey Knit Top is the first one to come out! It was inspired by a print from 1901 by the Parisian firm Bourdone Lengendre and Co. at the design center.
SO COOL!

CHECK OUT the design center's blog! Its awesome!
Sarah has a great post on this one!
